Mitie wins £60m Manchester Airports Group contract for providing electrical maintenance solutions across Manchester, London Stansted, and East Midlands airports.

This week, facilities management group Mitie landed a £60 million contract with Manchester Airports Group. MAG, part owned by Greater Manchester’s ten Metropolitan Borough and City Councils, have used Mitie for previous contracts since 2008. Eight years after winning its first contract at Manchester Airport, Mitie will also be responsible for similar services at London Stansted and East Midlands airports.
As well as electrical maintenance services, the contract (across Manchester, London Stansted, and East Midlands airports) will cover:
- Fixed wire testing;
- Plumbing;
- Life safety systems;
- Building management systems;
- Lightning protection systems.
On awarding the contract to Mitie, the CEO of London Stansted airport, Andrew Cowan said, “We have been working with Mitie for over seven years and it is a great credit to their team that we are developing our long-standing relationship with this new contract.
“Mitie was awarded the work after a rigorous and technical tender process. Mitie has extensive experience in the sector, and an ability to provide national 24/7 coverage underpinned by advanced technology.”

Mitie has been going since 1987. The company name stands for Management Incentive Through Investment Equity. With their HQ in Bristol, they expanded by acquiring similar facilities management companies. Today, they offer a wealth of services from electrical maintenance to contract cleaning.
